Hi, my name is Stephanie Kern, aka Stevie and I would like to start by welcoming you to my website.  I started painting on a whim in 2009 after being a jewelry artist for six years, after I started Gemini Design by Stevie in 2003.  Prior to that I worked as a draftsman, CADD operator, jack of all trades for a large corporation since 1984, the last 6 years of which I was a space planner, ergonomist and interior designer.  I am now currently using my technical and interior design background to create specialized custom commission pieces for the home or office.  I am now a full time working artist constantly challenging myself with new techniques, new styles and love to create just about anything.  I am what you might call an American Abstract Artist for the most part but as you can see from my gallery, I also enjoy doing realism as well as landscapes, whimsical and anything else that interests me such as sugar skulls and other 3D art as well as my jewelry.

Some more information into my background as an artist, as of May 2012 till late winter early 2014, I was a house artist at Serendipity 181 Fine Arts and gifts in downtown Midland, MI and was taking commission work requests through the gallery.  As this location is currently closed, please contact me at geminidesignbystevie@gmail.com or Stephanie Udell Kern on Facebook to view more of my work or if you wish to commission a piece.

I am a self taught Jewelry Artist and Fine Artist working in Acrylics, oils, watercolors, charcoal and other mixed media.  Began making jewelry when I opened my business and  worked from stringing beads to working with PMC (Precious Metal Clay) using torch techniques and some kiln work, also working with Sterling silver and copper using hammering, wire wrapping and torch techniques.  All jewelry is made of high quality components, sterling, fine silver, copper or gold filled ( nothing plated or costume) and genuine gemstones, Swarovski crystals and 5 star cubic zirconia.

After I began painting, I landed my first gallery show featuring jewelry and paintings at Court Street Gallery in February 2010 and have also participated in several Saginaw Art Market events, Saginaw Art Museum events and numerous guest jewelry artist showings with SAWA the Saginaw Water Color artists group.  Have also participated in some local art battles including one at Enchante’ Art Gallery and Saginaw Art Museum, Serendipity 181 as well as other local shows.
In the summer of 2016, I was an art instructor at Atom Art in Ferndale MI and also had an art show there with several other artists in July.  By fall of 2016 from Sept. to Jan. 2017 about 16 of my paintings were on display in Schram's Mead in Ferndale.  Since then I have done some commission work in the area and hope to market my skills for custom commission work in 2017.

As a house artist at Serendipity 181, I helped coordinate artists receptions (including my own), art battles and other events as well as offering art lessons.  Display work is at Pasong’s restaurant in Saginaw, MI as well as Form and Function in Bay City, MI and Farm Bureau Insurance Agency in Hemlock, MI.

All work can be viewed on Facebook under Stephanie Kern with photo albums of My Jewelry, My Work (ART), and albums for sold jewelry and art all open for public viewing.
